Random radio port errors

#1

Post by Bubbathegimp »

Lately I have been getting port connection errors to the radio, and sometimes my usb drive.
Think I am experiencing RF problems.. Ports randomly fail while trying to do digital modes

Ordered some snap on ferrites to see if that helps..
doesnt happen all the time, But it's getting annoying

Same happens to me when I use particular antenna configurations, especially end fed wires, especially on some bands (10m) and very especially with digital modes, and very very especially as output approaches 100w. The PC will lose a USB connection, requiring a USB mouse or keyboard to be unplugged and replugged in. Snap on ferrite beads / cylinders on the USB cables helped a lot, anning a choke outdoors and using RG213 to bring the cable into the shack all but eliminated it.
