Need some advice
I'm ready to hang the fan dipole and mount the vertical as mostly permanent installations.
Here's my problem. The vast, rolling acreage known as Maison Foobar amounts to about 1/4 acre. With a massive maple, house detached garage and other odd restrictions.
The problem is the ground rods. Copper clad steel, nice copper raidials and ground wire etc with cadweld when I'm ready.
Anyhoo, where to place them? Don't want to kill the tree when lightning hits, or piss off the utility people.
I know a map of the vast rolling 1/4 acreage of the ancestral manse would help immensely, however the minions have been on strike and refuse to deliver until I provide speedier access to pornhub and free lube.
Any general pointers about the antenna situation.
The minions just need a bit of pepper spray and saltpeter to keep their sorry, ungrateful little asses in line

Re: Need some advice
Well I took a look at Google maps overhead view of your place and you aren't exaggerating when you call that maple massive. But to the point I believe you need one ground rod at the base of the vertical, and another at the entry point of your antenna cables, and those both need to be tied to the ground rod at your service entrance. As far as radials for the vertical as many and as long as you can get them for ground mounted verticals.

Don't give them free lube. Use it as an incentive to work harder, with the price discounted based on the amount of work they did that day..

Yup, the trunk is at least 12 feet in circumference at the base. And we get one hell of a bumper crop of leaves every fall, sometimes 3-4 feet deep before raking.

Re: Need some advice
If you can get that fan dipole near the top of that thing you should have a great antenna.
