At times it might be necessary to use a substitute, So I was wondering...
I know that there are improved versions of tubes out there.
What is the easiest way (Before purchase) to figure out if a substitute might work better in a given circuit,
or determining if a tube is the "Improved version" of the original tube?
For example the 6BY6 6BE6 & 6CS6

Is it just me, or does "Googling Yourself" just not sound right?..

Re: Tube swapping
I know that RCA printed a tube manual around 1960 that had a lot of good sub data in it, good luck finding one though. I had one years ago but it got lost somewhere in the shuffle of life. There must be some online sources though.

Re: Tube swapping
Theres plenty of places online to look up substitutes. I even had a Radio Shack tube book I lost with my stuff I had stored at my sister's when she passed.
What I'm interested in is finding out if a particular tube would work better in a circuit compared to the original. (Improved version)
