Still waiting for the new Yaesu FT-101D to hit the market. All I know about it at this time is that it is a hybrid SDR, that is, it has a conventional mixer, followed by a 9 MHZ IF, followed by an ADC/FPGA and DSP.
The display on the other hand, is routed directly from the antenna input to the ADC so is direct digital sampling. It is an interesting architecture and probably will result in a superior close spaced dynamic range while maintaining sensitivity and a higher third order intercept.
